Molehills and Mountains

MOLEHILLS

And

MOUNTAINS OF ICE

Often I have been warned “not to make mountains
out of mole-hills!  It reminds me of a tendency to
sometimes maximize problems and minimize any
determination to overcome them.

It is impossible to over-state the Himalayas of resist-
ance which William Lloyd Garrison faced as he dared
to challenge and name that “most atrocious villainy
ever exhibited on earth”.

He had “mountains of ice to melt”!

When I began reading The Liberator, I found quickly
that I wanted to lift up some of the items which reveal-
ed the mountains which resisted change. At the same
time I cherished those other tiny signs that the mountains
were melting.

This is about those “mole-hills” of resistance. It is
also pointing to tiny “mole-hills” which for Friend
Garrison were promises of melting.
