An Anti-Slavery Society was formed in Barnstable, Feb 13, 1835, when 17 subscribed their names as members.

The next meeting was at the Baptist meeting-house in Hyannis, March 17 …. 53 new members added; in the evening of the same day, in a meeting-house in Aserville, 39 new members were added, making the whole number of members 100. Hyannis, March 30, 1835
