Criticism of Legislature, 1835

Quoting from the Lynn Recorder —“Never, we believe was any legislative body so successful in the great work of doing …. nothing, and preventing any good thing from being done, as the army of loungers, who have crowded our State House, for the last three or four months.  The year 1835, will form a memorable era in the annals  of legislation … of six hundred men eating on the Commonwealth ….: (Liberator, April 18, 1835, pg. 4)
