“The Old Cradle of Liberty it seems is to be desecrated by a meeting of the friends of slavery and slaveholders! ..Better that the lightening of heaven should smite and devour the building … that the winds should scatter it in fragments …” (Liberator, August 15,1835, pg 3) Reference is clearly to meeting chaired by Mayor Lyman.
