France, news about abolition

France — A long debate on the abolition of slavery in the colonies belonging to that country, has taken place.  The Peers passed a law, by which the slave can purchase his freedom.  The right of the slave to property is recognized.  For his moral and religious rights the bill also provides.  It remains to be seen how the bill will fare in the Chamber of Deputies.
