The Greenfield Gazette and Courier reports that Garrison and Douglass were “pelted with rotten eggs while lecturing on slavery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania a few days since. This is pitiful business, helping abolition more than it injures its representatives personally.”(Liberator, Sept 17,, 1847)
