Lucy Stone lectures, “free from male pedantry”

A brief article mentions a lecture by Lucy Stone, a native of West Brookfield, and an Oberlin graduate.  It commends her style, indicating that she is “entirely free from the pedantry which so often mars the character of young men when they emerge from college  … We hope that the day may soon come when a thoroughly educated woman shall not be a rare phenomenon….”  (Liberator, August 25, 1848)
