Political Action – Prudence Crandall

Possibly, or probably, from Prudence Crandall, signed “P. Crandall”.  An article in the Massachusetts Abolitionist has caught her attention; evidently the writer has been accused of “meddling improperly with politics”, and wants to refute the charge.  He says, “I have cast but one vote in seven years, and that without reference to political parties.”  Crandall has a bit of sarcasm for him:  “It seems that he has not voted but once in seven years, and that he has NEVER VOTED FOR THE SLAVE!  This is ‘political action’ with a witness!”
