A report that the annual meeting of the First Congregational Society of North Brookfield has adopted resolutions which name the Fugitive Slave Law as “oppressive, unrighteous and inhuman, … that the manner of executing the law in the case of Sims “is an outrage upon the moral sense of the people”, that the church members  ” hold that pulpit recreant to its trust that fails to lift its voice in denouncing this great wrong, this outrage upon the religious feelings of the community….”
