Rescue of a Slave

A note from the Lancaster (PA) Intelligencer tells of three men, two of whom were police officers, who arrested a female fugitive slave owned in Maryland.  They found her in a Quaker house, arrested her, and were taking her away when attacked by a group of negroes who rescued her and took her away.  All three men were considerably bruised.  “It is said, though on no reliable authority, that the blacks were incited to this outrage by others.”
