ROMISH ABOLITIONISTS

Romish  Abolitionists —  The Universal German Gazette states, that since the Pope addressed an apostolic letter to the Sovereigns of Christendom, inviting them to abolish or soften the rigors of the slave-trade, some nuns had gone to Cario to procure by purchase, the freedom of Ethiopian women.  Forty of these women, redeemed from slavery, had recently arrived at Rome.  They are to proceed to Chamberry, in Savoy, where they will receive a Christian education.
