In this speech, extracts here, Parker comments on the Religious Revival currently being experienced in many places. “How much we need a Revival of Religion! Not a renewal of Ecclecisastic Theology, but a Revival of Piety and Morality in men’s hearts…” He argues that, if there should be a great influx of people into the churches “it would not abate one of those five great evils -War, Political Corruption, Slavery , Selfish Antagonism in Society, nor the Degradation of Woman…”
