With high praise the editor notes the graduation of Paul, son of the deceased Rev. Thomas Paul . ( Sept 17, 1841, Liberator) “He is now in Boston, anxious to employ his talents and educational attainments in the best possible manner. He would like to act as a teacher, or (as he is an excellent penman) be employed in writing.” The note reflects the close relationship Garrison had with the father, who was the first minister of the African Baptist Church; the son served also as assistant to Garrison at the Liberator. Paul was also one of the first black graduates of Dartmouth.
