To the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
‘……………The Statue Must Be Removed. ………the undersigned respectfully ask you to remove from the State House grounds…..the statue of Daniel Webster, whose last years were spent in defending the Fugitive Slave Bill, and whose last counsel to the Commonwealth was to ‘conquer her prejudices’ against Slave-hunting, and to return men to bondage’ with alacrity.’……..
