Woman and the Press

The article tells of a meeting recently held in Boston, in regard to a “new periodical to be devoted to the interests of woman”.  The article includes a “Prospectus of the Woman’s Journal” … ” it appears strange that women, constituting one half of humanity, should have no organ in America, especially devoted to the promotion of  their interests…. The motto of the proposed Journal is “Equal Rights for all Mankind”.  The article lists contributors already secured, including Lydia Maria Child, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, William Lloyd Garrison, and Wendell Phillips.  (Liberator, June 13, 1862)
