Women chattels beat Virginia gentleman

The Tables Turned   The widow of the late Ex-President John Tyler has written to President Lincoln complaining that Gen. Wild has arrested a slave owner who had been flogging his female chattels, and that the General had had him tied, and permitted the women to repay that blows with interest.  Mrs. Tyler is indignant that a Virginia gentleman should have been treated thus .
