A Word for Domestics

A letter to Garrison, from Sarah D. Fish, Rochester, calls for attention to the ways in which domestic servants are mistreated. After recounting the many groups of people for whom reformers show concern, she says: “But there is one great evil that reformers, in common with others, are helping to sustain – I mean the way we treat those of both sexes, and especially females, who are helping us in our domestic concerns…..”
