The October 15 and 22 issues of the Liberator, 1841, include articles about Anti-Slavery Wafers which are designed for sealing letters, and which are available at the office. “They constitute a valuable addition to the means of usefulness already possessed by abolitionists. Each sheet contains ninety-eight mottoes. Prices six cents single, 25 sheets for one dollar.” Here are samples of some of the mottoes on the Wafers: “Love God above and, thy neighbor as thyself, and slavery would disappear from the earth.” … “The church which tolerates slavery, tolerates sin, and is no true church.” … “Are not all men brothers? How can one be the slave, the property of another?”
