England moving toward immediate emancipation

ALL ENGLAND IN A FLAME  !

By late arrivals from England, we have received files of London papers, by which we learn that the whole kingdom is gloriously agitated for the abolition of the apprenticeship system in the West Indies.   One of the most cheering items of intelligence is, that Thomas Clarkson, Zarbary Macauley, and Fowell Buxton, have at last abandoned their old-school notion of gradual emancipation  by a reparatory method, and given their adhesion to the doctrine of immediate and unconditional emancipation.   More than four hundred anti-slavery delegates were assembled in London from all parts of the kingdom, in order to influence the action of Parliament………A petition from the ladies of Scotland, containing one hundred and thirty thousand signatures, in favor of immediate abolition, had been presented to Queen Victoria at her levee……..
