In the August 29, 1835, Liberator, pg 3 there appears an article about Thompson. he is compared to Lafayette, “who left his native land to “espouse the cause of a brave but injured people, in their unequal struggle for liberty”. The article is in two parallel columns, one describing Lafayette, the other Thompson.
