In the February 2, 1833 Liberator, Reporting on a Jan 21 meeting of the New England Anti-Slavery Society, on motion of Mr. Garrison it was resolved “That the formation of a National Anti-Slavery Society is essential to the complete regeneration of public sentiment on the subject of slavery … the slaves ought instantly to be emancipated ….”
