A record of resolutions adopted “after a protracted and able  discussion at the late NEAS Convention, by a vote of 250 to 24”.  The resolutions include phrases like,  “no equal union can exist between a slaveholding and a free community; that under any form of government, a large body of slaveholders must necessarily control the policy and character of the nation;  and that it is the great fault of the United States Constitution, that it assists and facilitates this result.  ” Resolved That for this reason, as well as for other reasons, no abolitionist can consistently swear to support the Constitution … we deem a duty to agitate for a dissolution of the Union… ”  The names of voters and how they voted are listed. (Liberator, June 14, 1844, pg 3)
