Sumner criticized

Here is a strong rebuke that while Sumner has been in Washington six months, he has not spoken against slavery…. Previous statements against the Fugitive Slave Law, and more generally against slavery, which Sumner made at Faneuil Hall are quoted …”He says nothing as Senator … he remains dumb as a wooden image …. he postpones, he hesitates, waiting for a more convenient season!  …he makes it no subject at all in the Senate!”   (Liberator, June 18, 1852)
