Death of Nathaniel Hawthorne

Death of Nathaniel Hawthorne   Nathaniel Hawthorne, the author, died at Plymouth, New Hampshire, May 19th.  He was stopping at Plymouth in the course of a journey for the benefit of his health, and was in company with ex-President Franklin Pierce.  He had been suffering with general disability for some time, but retired to bed as well as usual.  At 3’ o’clock the next morning, however he was found dead in his bed by ex-President Pierce.
