Mr. Buchanan’s Inaugural Address

March 13, 1857

“Not one noble idea, not one sentiment worthy of a man, whose business should be to guide the nation in the pathway of freedom, of peace, and of the general protection of the poor, the weak, and the oppressed, marks this document.”   The article calls him the “impersonation” of the Democratic Party, which it sees as the “ready and convenient organ of the Slave Power….”
