PETITIONS TO CONGRESS

In the preceding column we have inserted the list of petitions (as far they could be ascertained at Washington), which were forwarded to Congress from the New England States, at its last session, praying for the abolition of slavery in the District of Columbia.

The whole number of petitions from the various States includes the following:   (Other states included, but not listed here include New York,  New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina.)
