Indicates that Gen Scott is to be dispatched to Cherokee country “to look down any opposition”, and that he is calling for a military force from several states; it commends this measure, saying that “in the long run, it will prove the soundest economy”. Then from the Washington Spy (Geo) comes this: “From the best information that can be obtained, it would appear, these deluded people, (the Cherokees), are resolved not to emigrate, until a resort be made to compulsory measures”.
