Contrabands suffer

The contrabands at Cairo, Ill., number from 800 to 1000, and are in most miserable condition, suffering intensely for want of necessary clothing and bedding.  Two are reported by the physicians as having died on Friday night from want and exposure.  Nearly all are women and children, and a large number of them, are ill.
