Death of Timothy Gilbert, Pioneer Piano Manufacturer

Deacon Timothy Gilbert, one of our best known and most useful citizens, died this morning after a long illness, at the age of 68 years and six months. He was the oldest living piano-forte manufacturer in Boston, having served his apprenticeship with Mr. Currier, the pioneer in that important branch of domestic industry. Mr. Gilbert was widely known as a philanthropist, and liberal and constant benefactor of the Temperance and Anti-Slavery causes. The
