Nathaniel Hawthorne, the author, died at Plymouth, New Hampshire, May 19th. He was stopping at Plymouth in the course of a journey for the benefit of his health, and was in company with ex-President Franklin Pierce. He had been suffering with general debility for some time,, but retired to bed as well as usual. At 8 o’clock the next morning, however, he was found dead in his bed by ex-President Pierce.
