Equal Political Rights

June 3, 1853

Record of a meeting in the Senate Chamber, filled to overflowing with a highly respectful and intellectual audience, gathered to hear Lucy Stone and Wendell Phillips, who argue before the Committee of the Constitutional Convention, urging the duty of the Commonwealth to allow women equal political  rights  and privileges.  At another meeting, Theodore Parker is to speak.  “What will be the action either of this Committee or the Convention, on this subject, we cannot tell, but we know what it ought to be.”
