Henry Clay

“The Whigs of Virginia, in state Convention, have declared their preference of Henry Clay for the Presidency.  This is quite natural, he being both a duelist and a slaveholder, and thus eminently qualified for that high station, according to the standard of American patriotism and morality in the American Dominion. Miserable expectants are they whose hopes are based on clay!”
