Massachusetts Census

The census returns from all the towns of Massachusetts but sixteen indicate a total population of 1, 272,000, which is an increase of 41,000 from 1860. There has been a loss in Barnstable, Bristol, Duke’s, Plymouth, Franklin and Nantucket. The number of voters if 245,000, against 211,000 in 1857.
