Missouri against emancipation

Emancipation in Missouri   Both branches of the Missouri Legislature have passed a resolve declaring the emancipation of slaves in the State not only impracticable, but any movement toward it impolitic, unwise and unjust, and that it should be discountenanced by the people.  Then the characteristic Garrison “finger” figure The Legislature, it seems, is behind the people, as the Church also is.
