Virginia Vigilance Committee vs Abolitionists

“The Committee of Vigilance for the parish of Prince William, Virginia have offered a reward of  one thousand dollars for the detection and delivery into their custody of any person who shall be proved to have been an acting Agent in this state of any Northern Abolition Society, information having been received that a person, suspected of being an Agent of a Northern Abolition Society, is now passing through the State, having been recently seen in Beaufort District.”  (Liberator, Sept 5, 1835, pg 4)
