Celebrating the First of August

TO THE COLORED INHABITANTS OF BOSTON AND VICINITY

Dear Brethren:

The great event demands your attention.

The anniversary of British West India Emancipation is at hand; and you are hereby respectfully invited to meet in the Infant School Room, Belknap street,  on Tuesday evening, the 12th inst., ad half past 7 o’clock, then and there to adopt measures to celebrate the occasion with becoming  solemnities.

We anticipate punctuality, and a hearty turnout in favor of freedom.
