Episcopal Methodist Clergy of Georgia on slavery

Here is a Resolution adopted by this Clergy:  “Resolved, that we view slavery as a civil and domestic institution, and one with which, as ministers of Christ, we have nothing to do, further than to ameliorate the condition of th slave by endeavoring to impart to him, and to his master, the benign influences of the religion of Christ, and aiding both in their way to heaven.” ( Noted in Liberator, Feb 23, 1838)
