Petitions to Massachusetts Legislature

The April 3, 1840 Liberator, pg 2 lists petitions sent to the Massachusetts Legislature, in two long columns.  The various towns from which people came includes names and numbers for each town.  Petitions were relative to the repeal of all laws in the state which make distinctions on account of complexion,  petitions  against the admission of Florida as a slave state,  and petitions for repeal of the Congressional “gag” law.
